That blue shell with a few random speckles seems closest to being a European Starling. Since being introduced to North America early in the nineteenth century they have become one of the most prolific alien bird species, and are found all over the USA.

Hmm, I have never seen that bird species around here.
They can be found in most of the lower 48 states. You could very easily have seen them without realizing it. Here, in the California Central Coast (also rural) there are some large flocks of them. They are a truly invasive species.
