We were just watching out the living room window , the red belly
woodpeckers have 3 babies this year . And they're all tellin' Mama "it's
my turn!" as she makes multiple trips from the suet feeder to the tree
they're all in . This is awesome , we usually only see 2 babies . Also ,
just a few days ago I saw a baby Pileated out and about with the adults
. Now if I could just get rid of the damn cowbirds ...

Today I saw Mr. and Mrs. Hairy Woodpecker at the feeder, the male would
get a little bit a suet, hop over and place it in his mate's mouth who
was a close by. I've only witnessed that behavior before with cardinals
but maybe it's not unusual with a lot of species. The male takes on the
"protector" role even though the female is capable of getting the suet
on her own.
